Decisions, decisions. So far, I've only had one character whose name had to be a specific one, Atlantis, and that was becuase of the plot. Yep. All the others, I just picked names that I felt like. So you'll have to decide.

Yeah. I think I'm going to keep it for now only because it's what feels right as her name. Worse comes to worse, I write the novel, edit it to its best, submit to an agent, actually get an agent, and they say to change the name or make it a similar variation. I might be okay keeping it though since it'll be a while, most likely, before I ever get an agent (granted I actually DO get an agent) so the Fever series will have had its time and the name might not be linked to it. Plus, those are adult books and I'm writing YA. (I think I just solved my problem. Really helps to just talk though it.)

Ok, so keeping the name the same for the time being. Now just need a surname. Have a few ideas but could use some more.
Makayla "Mac" Stark Makayla "Mac" Sommer Makayla "Mac" Moore
Any ideas???

See??? This is why I don't do well with forums. I forget to post (usually because I'm writing ). So lets see... I've been editing Chosen. Almost finished with chap. 5 (of 34, I might add). Been brainstorming this UF idea, but probably won't do anything with it for a while (really want to write Hidden--sequel to Chosen--before that, maybe this summer). The blog's been going good. For anyone who doesn't know, you can find it by clicking on the banner in my siggy. And yeah, I think that's it.

Alright, so I posted over in titles to get some ideas on new novel titles to replace "Chosen" because there are too many novels with that same title. This is going to be a trilogy, whether it gets published or not, so I want the titles to fit in somehow. I had a couple ideas, one which I'd like some feedback on. All these titles would have "Dragon's" in front of the word:
Book 1: Dragon's Rebellion Dragon's Savior
Book 2: Dragon's Misery Dragon's Mourning Dragon's Sorrow Dragon's Torment
Book 3: Dragon's Hope Dragon's Glory Dragon's Solace
All the titles listed would work for each book respectively. The set I had chosen were (in order) Dragon's Rebellion, Dragon's Torment, and Dragon's Glory. What do you all think?

Thanks. I talked with my mom about them compared to the ones I had already (Chosen, Hidden, and Fallen) and after discussing it for a couple hours (no joke) I decided to keep the original titles and if an agent wants to change it, I can cross that bridge then.
UPDATE: Well, I'm still early on in Chosen edits but I've begun outlining Hidden. I have three chapters, although I'm not sure whether I'm going to add any in before them. I'm struggling with the middle. I know how it's going to end, but since it's a sequel, I need to keep the tension/energy high coming off the first book--which is REALLY hard. So that's what I'm working on. I've done a bit of brainstorming, writing down what definitely needs to happen (VERY short description--like phrase-length) for Rayne and I've started on Lea. I have the main subplots for Rayne as well and inadvertently came up with a new plot twist involving a minor character from Chosen (for those of you who've read it, this would be Dru). I need to work on her character development in Chosen first, though, before writing anything with her in it for Hidden. She's kind of flat in Chosen, especially after I cut a bunch of scenes with her in them, so I'll need to add to that.
I wanted to also say that Hidden may not be a sequel. As I said, I'm in the early stages of editing but it seems I need to add more than subtract from the novel, meaning it's going to be even longer (ended at almost 110k, 375 pgs.). Therefore, to make it more marketable, I may split it into two books. I would rather not, but for a new author, fitting into the market is really important and it's not as if I have a book like Eragon here. I'm planning on finishing editing and polishing Chosen and submitting queries, and depending on the feedback, I may or may not split the book and try to sell the first half. But that won't be until late summer, early fall, so plenty of time to NOT worry about it now (says the one frantically biting her nails over it).
So that's what's going on (sorry about the long update. haven't been too good about doing it frequently).

Well, just got a full novel crit. back (crit was 8 pgs. long) and she kind of destroyed my novel. Which, I guess, is good since it's serious feedback. I'm a little disheartened, but her points were valid and it looks like I might be completely scrapping the first half/ three-quarters of Chosen and rewriting. Fun, fun, fun... (and no, the rewriting isn't because she said to, it's because I think I'm going to need to) <-- Looks like I won't be done by the fall.

DID SOMEONE SAY CHOCOLATE? *Ahem* That crit sounds totally awesome and totally not at the same time I'd love some really tough feedback on my writing, but it's always gonna be discouraging to have to rewrite so much o.O At least you've actually written out the story so you know the plot though, right? Should speed it up a bit Best of luck with rewriting!
